  1. I love to travel too! In fact, I wish right now I was in some foreign village, just exploring, trying new things, meeting new kinds of people, and learning a little bit of the language. I wish I was European, so I could have traveled 3 times as much as I have.

Great post and good free writing. :)

    1. Travel is where it's at!!! I can't wait to have more time to go. It's important, and I am in the travel industry. I talk to people everyday about where they want to go and what they would do if money were no object. It amazes me that some peoples dream vacation is Branson MO WOW are you kidding me??? Really? LOL

    2. the travel industry is the most hypocritical field ever! You work so you can get people the best vacation while you will never be able to afford yours. I lived in Branson for 7 years after living in Paris for 23...I know that feeling! :)

  2. I am glad to find others who are interested in traveling as well! Around here, sometimes it feels like people are complacent in where they are and have no interest in exploring. To each their own but it's great to find others like me! I was fortunate to live in many different places while growing up- including living in Italy and getting to see many places in Europe while living there. It definitely awakened my desire to see more of the world though!

    1. Adrienne, I think it is a culture thing. People in the midwest have been programmed to be happy with what you have and don't expect anything. Living here my entire life, I see a lot of it. NOT ME!!! I love it

  3. I also have a sense of wanderlust. Some people (like my dad) have no desire of leaving the States. However, I feel that we should see other cultures and explore all of the beautiful places this world has to offer! Great post!

    1. Cole, IT totally amazes me at people don't want to go places! Heck Sign ME UP!!! I'm outta here! I love it. Can't wait for my next trip. We are going camping and kayaking on Thursday of next week which will be fun. I would get on a plane everyday if I could.

  4. Your post made me smile :)
I love traveling too, although it is expensive. I would love to go to London. I would also like to go to Italy. Some day I really hope I can to it and explore all kinds of places. I am from Mexico but I haven't really gotten to see the whole country. It has many beautiful places and each part has it's own culture and dishes. I want to learn more about my roots and my people before I do anything else because I want to be able to pass this down to my son. Here is for hoping we can have all the travels we dream for!!

  6. Traveling is always been a desire of mine and with 4 siblings my family rarely gets the opportunity to travel to extravagant places. However, towards the end of this summer I get the opportunity to go on a 2 year mission to Ecuador. I am looking forward to being fully immersed in this culture and to learn the language of Spanish. I always am looking forward to sharing my experiences with people when I come home.

  7. Mimi, your post made me laugh! Haha I think that is some true freewriting right there!! I thought it was super interesting when you said that Europeans travel three times as much as we do!! I believe it though. I really think every person should have the opportunity to travel to a foreign country at some point in there lifetime. It would be such a life experience to see how other people live in different countries and what there culture is like! I want to travel the world some day as well :) I have always liked to travel! I went to Hawaii a couple years ago and I cannot wait to go back! I know it is not a foreign country, but the plane ride felt like I was going to a different country!! So long!! Definitely worth it :) I really want to go to Australia someday!

  8. Megan,
You're a lucky woman to have been to Hawaii. It is a long flight but that is something you will never forget. I hope you have lots of pictures and scrapbook or something to document it all.

  9. Mimi,
I loved reading your post and I couldn't agree with you more. The months I have spent in foreign countries have been filled with the best memories of my life. Traveling is incredible and should most definitely be experienced by everyone. I love having the ability to hop in my car and just drive somewhere, anywhere. This very afternoon I had the opportunity to go out of state on a hike, and was able to take full advantage of it. While this wasn't out of the country, it was still fun to get out of my everyday schedule. Thank you for reminding me just how wonderful traveling is.

  10. Did somebody say I wish I was European? Well I am European and I do know why we travel so much: because we have time and the means to do it! Imagine: minimum wage is $14 an hour and you have five weeks of paid vacation a year. What would you do? By the way, your medical bills and medications are 80% covered by social security, and it is not only available it you are old or disabled. You have this coverage the day you are born. What would you do if you had all that? Well me (then) and my 60+ million fellow French citizens were enjoying our free time. Much less injuries at work, much less stress-related missed time, much less work related suicides and nervous breakdowns, no more feeling like you will only breathe when you are 65 years old. I know Paris like you know Springfield, and it is even more amazing than you dream it to be. The one problem is when are you going to be able to see it for yourself? How can you make it happen?

  11. Frederic,
Wow!!! You hit it right on.. the vacation time is outrageous. Why in the heck did you move here with all those benefits? I would love to know. I know travel and time off gives you the less stress, less accidents. Gives you all of this... I love the concept.
